Nurse & Postpartum Chef
As a nurse, postpartum chef and mother, I have studied, lived and learned what our bodies need to maximize healing in the weeks after birth, and it starts with being fed. In-home care means you don’t plan or cook. I show up with a menu built for your stage of healing, fill your fridge and freezer, and leave your kitchen clean and your body supported.
In Home Postpartum Support
Visits inside a postpartum home are sacred and tender. I understand the trust in another human to welcome them in & I’m so honored to be welcomed. However, during my visits, you don’t owe me anything. My entire focus is getting into the kitchen and cooking, baking and preparing herbal beverages & support. If you would rather stay in bed in your cocoon with your new precious angel & just text me, say less! I got you. In all ways.
What do these visits look like?
I like to always say that I’m flexible because postpartum is so unexpected but I like to provide an overall framework that I aim for. The visits are usually around 5 hours and I focus on making 2 large dishes, a couple sides, a lactation friendly snack (but also delicious for the whole family), and a couple herbal beverages.
A prenatal appointment is included so that we can meet (either in person or virtually) to discuss expectations for the menu, cravings, comfort foods, allergies, and anything you normally don’t eat. We talk about how the menu would be adjusted based on birth outcome & I will always ebb & flow based on healing & recovery. During the prenatal appointment we also discuss kitchen items that are required for me and other items that would be great but I can also bring myself.
During the appointment we will also outline a schedule, spouse or support persons contact info & anything else! I always love to know how your pregnancy is going, plan for birth, past birth experiences and overall feelings about postpartum so that I can walk into each appointment being cognizant of who YOU are and what these visits mean to you.
Groceries are the families responsibility and I send menus and grocery lists to clients by Saturday afternoon. Something on the menu not sitting right with you? No problem! I can replace it! As a reminder, I’m here to serve YOU.
